GIMP - Make Spritesheets out of Layers

This will allow you to make sprite sheets or sprite strips in GIMP. 
It will take you less than 30 seconds.

Simply load all your frames at once and hit the button, wa-lah~  it's done.

Please note:
You will need to install the file into GIMP before the drop-down menu appears.
